The examples make it clear how small gaps—like not listening or not being clear—can slowly build into bigger issues over time. It also does a good job showing that communication problems aren’t always dramatic, but often subtle and repeated patterns that affect relationships and outcomes. It made me reflect on how often these things happen without noticing. Do you think people are usually aware they’re communicating poorly, or does it take someone else pointing it out?

Thank you for your specific acknowledgements of the article/blog. to answer your question, ost communication issues build quietly through small, repeated patterns.

People are usually only partly aware of their communication patterns. They may experience tension in their bodies or a sense of distancing, but not see their own contribution to the miscommunication. Because these habits feel normal, they’re hard to notice without perspective.

Often times people ‘wake up’ when someone they care about expresses their feelings of hurt or anger. In some cases a friendship, courtship, or marriage ends. Other avenues of becoming aware are therapy, self-help books, workshops, videos, podcasts and other self-help resources. Then self-reflection can kick in. I love providing psychoeducation with my clients to allow awareness to surface. Then they can make a different choice in their communication pattern. ❤️🐞
