Patricia’s brand of Inspirational Speaker
The terms Inspirational Speaker and Motivational Speaker are often used in the same context. However, motivate means to arouse to take action while inspire means to enliven a deeper understanding of one’s self or to stir up a growth experience.
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, describes the similarities and differences between the two:
There are similarities between Motivational Speakers and Inspirational Speakers, and someone could be labeled as both simultaneously, but they are not necessarily interchangeable. One subtle difference is that inspirational speakers often deliver a "warm, encouraging message, sometimes based on a story of overcoming great obstacles," with a desired outcome of enlivening or exalting emotion. In contrast, motivational speakers may deliver a presentation that is more energetic in nature, with a desired outcome of moving attendees to action.”
A combination of both provides the best result and long lasting change. When we are moved to act more from our internal stirrings, the behavior change tends to be more thoroughly anchored. Many audience members walk away from a Ra-Ra speaker, take different action for a day or two and then flip back to their familiar habits. Contrast that to making a self-awareness discovery that arouses a longing for doing your best, willingly cooperating and supportively connecting. Then you achieve lasting meaning, commitment and improved performance.
Patricia and her Woe to WOW presentations do include a “warm and encouraging message” and provide inspiration. But they also include clear suggestions and calls to action to strengthen resilience. Meeting planners and audiences describe Patricia’s ability to motivate and inspire best:
