This is my crying self-talk: “I can’t cry in front of my hubby – he’ll just want to fix me or say ‘women are too hard to figure out'”; “I can’t cry in front of my kids because I don’t want to explain myself and burden them with my adult problems;” “I can’t cry with my girlfriends because we are usually in public;” “There is just no time to cry.” But what I find so interesting reading this article is that the second I laugh my tears fall out of me, I can’t swallow those ones down. Could this be my emotional self finding a crying release that I can’t talk myself out of? Fascinating indeed!

Leane, thank you for so candidly sharing your self-talk about crying. My hope for you is that you find a safe place and/or a safe person with whom you can let the tears flow. In the meantime laugh until you cry . . . lots. Hugs, Patricia

We are created with tear ducts. Crying is just a fantastic human experience. Imagine if we couldn’t cry when we need to like when a loved one dies or something overwhelmingly beautiful happens like a babies first smile!
Crying is not for the weak nor just women!!!

Well written Leslie! There is actually a theory that men die on average younger than women because of “swallowing pain and tears.” It makes sense because, as was discovered by Fry, tears of pain have signs of toxins in them unlike tears such as those shed when we chop onions. Fascinating, hey?
